STORIES FROM LIFE

Chuck Brodsky

Friday January 9th, 7pm $30adv/$40door

Tickets at Snazzy Productions or (831)479-9321

With just his voice and his guitar, Chuck Brodsky, draws in listeners with his quirky, finely crafted songs.

Brodsky, scheduled to play at The Ugly Mug Coffeehouse Soquel, writes compassionate lyrics that often center on oddball  and underdog characters while recognizing the goodness of people in all their imperfection. Tickets to the show are $30 advance, $40 door.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, a very young Brodsky fell in love with the piano, but he found his true instrumental voice in college when he heard two guys playing guitar at his university orientation. It wasn’t long before he swapped academia for the school of life. Influenced by Bob Dylan, Lowell George, Woody Guthrie, John Hartford, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Greg Brown, The Rolling Stones and Nic Jones, he started writing songs in his own voice that nevertheless honor his heroes.

Brodsky has appeared at major folk festivals and venues in the United States and Europe. Since 1995 he’s recorded 10 critically acclaimed albums, including "The Baseball Ballads 2," a 2013 release of tales from the diamond, inspired by his enduring passion for the national pastime.

His songs have been covered by major artists and have appeared on movie soundtracks. He’s currently celebrating 25 years on the road by making his 12 CD. When not on tour he makes his home in Asheville.
