Fiddlers love the Ookpik Waltz- and creating fantastic stories about its origin. In this film, Joe Weed reveals the REAL story. The Mystery of the Ookpik corrects myths about the tune's creation, its name, and the country music scene in western Canada in the 1950s and 1960s. Discover how fiddlers changed the original tune into the "Ookpik Waltz" that is played today. See the mystery solved, and find out whose waltz it is!
Joe Weed is a producer, composer, fiddler, and recording artist. In addition to his own albums, his productions have been used by Ken Burns, PBS, NPR, and at Arlington National Cemetery. He has composed film scores for The Lincoln Museum, the National Steinbeck Center, and many others. He and his partner, Marty Kendall, live in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where Joe has his studio
