Night of Guthrie and Old time Stories

Lola Guthrie · Woody Bell · Lucas Lawson

Thursday May 29th, 7-9pm, 6:30 doors, $10

We welcome Lucas Lawson, Woody Bell and Lola Guthrie for a night of Woody, Alro and Sarah Lee Guthrie songs, with originals and old timey sounds thrown in good measure.

Singer songwriter, guitarist Woody Bell plays americana, folk, folk rock, blues, rockabilly, love songs and is influenced by the beauty way. Ranging from the 60's to dance music today, he also plays in the rock band WredHorse. Examples of musical influences are Willis Alan Ramsey, Peter Rowan, Bob Dylan, Stephen Stills, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Jesse Colin Young. Just to name a few.

Growing up in the East Bay and Sebastopol, Lola Guthrie began writing her own songs at age 15 and recorded her album, Shadows, for her senior project in high school. Lola has been reaching toward the tradition of folk music to tell richer stories and create a dance between the beauty and the brutality of the world. “Music has impacted my life deeply,” says Lola, “I am so grateful to be alive at a time when I can witness such a wealth of unique music and lyrics.”

Lucas Lawson grew up on a small farm just north of Santa Cruz, where he was immersed in the realm of music, specifically bluegrass, at a young age. His passion for sound has since inspired him to study music in college, where he explores the complexity of music theory and performance. Lucas grows as an artist with each new creation, immersing himself in songwriting, collaborations, recording projects and orchestral arrangements. By sharing emotion and introspection through music, Lucas pays his respects to the land, customs, and communities that have supported him
